Good News from Ashton-under-Lyne this time. Browton's Bar and Bottle Shop is has a cask ale line installed and launched it with a Thornbridge Tap Takeover.

The branch Autumn Pub of the Season presentation took us to the New Inn in Buxton on Sat 15th Nov. After closing in July 2023, the New Inn underwent a transformation. Matt and Emma Blackstone bought the pub freehold and refurbished it in impressive style. They both come with an impressive background in the licensed trade before running 50 Degrees North in Buxton and the Duke in Burbage. (They also run the Old Sun nearby)
Together they have created a warm, welcoming environment that respects the heritage of the building.
We have adopted the national CAMRA Pub of the Year Competition Procedure to decide our branch Pub of The Year.
The first year for using this method is 2023. Three members of the branch were chosen at a branch meeting to visit the nominated pubs and to use the judging criteria and scoring system detailed in the attached document. Scores from all three judges were then added together to determine the overall winner.

Although the percentage of our Branch Members submitting scores is higher than the national average, we are keen to increase this further. CAMRA have put together a couple of useful videos, each about 3 minutes long, one explaining why it is important to submit beer scores, and the other explaining how this is done. Members can view these by clicking on the links below.
Please can I encourage Members who try a variety of ales when visiting a pub to submit a score for each beer they try.
